Live cd works flawlessly on my machine. No errors also during the reboot. But it’s a fresh install of ubuntu. I have a chipxet problem, the difference is that the sound does work fine from the built-in speakers, but they won’t come out of the headphone jack. This is on my HP Pavilion dv, on a almost fresh installation of Ubuntu 7.

DVD’s play fine also with a codec update which was automatically detected for my system. Tested with headphones, speakers I haven’t been able to confirm that the microphone jack works. On a thinkpad R61, with the same board, running Hardy with kernel 2.

Further to confuse the issue, when you copy the correct module over the old module, or simply delete the old module, the module dependencies are still referring to the old version of cyipset. The main volume was automatically un-muted.
One can do this using alsamixer. See your Intel representative for details.

My laptop does not have an external line-in port though perhaps the chipset supports it? When I got to mess with volume levels whether the buttons on the laptop or the volume control panelthe volume will start out at the level I set it for, then it will slowly get louder and louder until it is maxed out.
